Which makes it ten for Cook now in Carlisle's opening five friendlies, his first-half hat-trick meaning that the young Blues went into the break against a youthful Barrow second-string holding a commanding 3-0 lead. Cook then scoring again after the break before midfielder Shaun Law got in the act to make it 5-0 to Carlisle.

Cook was the youngster grabbing the headlines though and his fifth and United's sixth was the final goal of the game. In team news, numerous rolling substitutions kept a small squad fresh, while Scottish trialist Matt Henderson, who featured in the midweek 0-0 draw at Motherwell, has decided not to continue his temporary spell with the Cumbrians.
