Andy Cook - two goals
A big pitch at the Anchor Ground, Darwen FC was the venue for Carlisle's victory this lunchtime, United down to just four substitutes today with centre-half Michael Cleary away on international duty in Austria this weekend with Northern Ireland's under-17s.

Ryan Bowman just missed opening the scoring for United in the first minute from a Connor Tinnion free-kick, the young Blues eventually taking the lead after 23 minutes. In-form Carlisle striker Andy Cook volleying powerfully home from an angled Jonny Blake ball into him.

Cook making it 2-0 to United six minutes before the interval when a fired home a slightly deflected shot after Matt Duffy had played the ball forward. No more goals were forthcoming in the second-half with Cook being denied a hat-trick, and his ninth strike in four games, when his header from a Simon Lakeland cross was well saved by the Accrington Stanley goalkeeper.

After starting their league campaign with four away games out of five, although one of those at Preston North End was waterlogged off, Carlisle get back to home turf next Saturday morning when they face a difficult task against second-placed Oldham. The Latics having begun their season with four wins out of four, having scored 17 goals in the process, the game kicks off at Gillford Park at 11am.
