With their away match at rock-bottom Accrington Stanley having been switched from Clitheroe's Shawbridge ground to the Racecourse Ground on Wednesday evening it made it even easier for Wrexham to win the title this week. The Red Dragons only losing one game all season at second-string level, that being a 2-1 defeat at home to Tranmere in October.

In this match though Wrexham coasted to a 5-0 victory in front of an excellent attendance of around 300 spectators. The Welshmen already four goals to the good after only 34 minutes through Mark Jones, Declan Walker, an Adrian Cieselwicz penalty and Matty Wolfenden, before the "visitors" got some respite and Wrexham didn't score again until the 78th minute, Cieselwicz once again on target.

Earlier in the week though Accrington did manage to keep the score down a little bit better when they only lost 2-0 away to Preston, the game being played at Irongate, Bamber Bridge. It took North End until the 65th minute to break the deadlock however with a Tom Owens free-kick, before a Michael Hall own goal made sure of all three points for the Lilywhites in injury time.

Two days later and North End lost 3-1 at Deepdale against Blackpool though, the game another match to be switched from an away fixture to a home one. Danny Nardiello giving the Seasiders the lead on 19 minutes before Scott Davidson equalised for Preston moments before the break. But two quick goals in the second-half from Billy Clarke, on 54 and 58 minutes, ensured that Blackpool took the local second-string bragging rights.

The last game of the week to report on came on the Wirral as Tranmere drew 1-1 at home to long time title challengers Rochdale, the match taking place at Kirklands, Cammell Laird FC. Grenadian international Kithson Bain's late goal earning Rovers a point in a game in which the goalscorer for the visitors goes unreported.

Confirmed runners-up Carlisle play the final game of the season in the division next Wednesday afternoon when they take on Oldham in a 2pm kick-off at Brunton Park. That fixture having been moved on seven days as the Latics this week were on Lancashire Cup semi-final duty away to Preston, North End losing 2-0 in the middle of playing three games in three days with Ryan Brooke scoring both goals for the visitors.
