Oldham and Preston were supposed to be sick of the sight of each other as they first played each other in the league on Monday before then on Wednesday they were meant to be facing each other again in the semi-finals of the League Cup. The first game the only one to get the go-ahead though as winter bit back once more and forced the cancellation of Wednesday's match.

So at Hyde United's Ewen Fields on Monday evening Preston won 2-1 away to Oldham. Keith Treacy making it 1-0 to the visitors on 26 minutes before Andy Crompton equalised for the Latics just before the hour mark. Preston though grabbing all three points late on when Treacy grabbed his second goal of the game inside the final five minutes.

Down at Bloomfield Road, the only other surviving game with matches at Morecambe and Rochdale both being rained off, neither Blackpool nor Carlisle could find the net in a game in which the windy weather was the big winner. United next week taking on Morecambe at home on Wednesday afternoon as they look for three more points in their quest for the second-string title.
