The big scoreline coming at Bloomfield Road as Blackpool, in front of over 1,500 fans, thrashed title challenging Rochdale 8-1 to celebrate their opening that evening of their new Armfield South Stand. The Seasiders supporters turning out in force to help check all the facilities were in working order ahead of Blackpool's game with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

As for the game itself, a very strong Tangerines outfit went goal crazy against a young visiting side. Ishmel Demontagnac, Barry Bannan and Stephen Dobbie making it 3-0 at the break before Dobbie again, Ian Evatt, Bannan once more, Al Bangura and then Dobbie for his hat-trick found the net in the second-half. The solitary Rochdale goal coming through Godwin Abadaki with the scoreline at 7-0.

Most of the other goals in the division came at Hyde United's Ewen Fields as Oldham defeated Accrington Stanley 4-0 at home. The Latics, despite being held 0-0 at half-time, easily pulling away from their visitors in the second-half thanks to two goals apiece from Ryan Brooke and youth team striker Djeny Bembo-Leta.

Down in North Wales and Preston drew 1-1 at Wrexham in a match played at Globe Way, Buckley Town FC, North End leaving it late though to grab a share of the spoils as George Miller's injury time strike cancelled out an 11th minute goal for the Red Dragons by Jamie McCluskey.

So no points for Rochdale and only one for Wrexham helped Carlisle move clear at the top of the table with a 1-0 win at Tranmere, the game taking place at Kirklands Stadium, Cammell Laird FC. Manny Richardson scoring the only goal of the game in the 62nd minute for a United side whose next game is again on the road on a Wednesday afternoon at 2pm, the Blues this time playing at Buckley Town against Wrexham in a bag match for both teams as far as title aspirations are concerned.
