Reserves League Round-Up This Week

Last updated : 08 December 2009 By Thetashkentterror
The only divisional match that was supposed to be on being called off as Rochdale v Blackpool bit the waterlogged dust at Dark Lane, Rossendale United FC. Three sides were in optional League Cup action though and in the first of those matches Preston defeated Morecambe 2-1 at Christie Park. North End coming back from a Jamie Yates goal down at half-time to win thanks to second period strikes from Tom Smyth and Ryan McGreevy.

The other game played in Group Two, which Preston are top of on goal difference from Bradford City, saw home side Oldham defeat the Bantams 1-0 at Bower Fold, Stalybridge Celtic FC, the only goal scored by former Carlisle youth team trialiast Laquan Esdaile-Biney in the 69th minute.

Next week three games are scheduled to take place in the division but with Accrington being one of those in the recent rain you can almost guarantee that being down to two. As for Carlisle, well we take a lengthy trip to North Wales to take on Wrexham in a match that will be played at Globe Way, Buckley Town FC.
