Reserves League Round-Up This Week

Rovers making it two wins out of two to start the season as they won a tight game on the road, 1-0 at Blooomfield Road against Blackpool. Recent Tranmere signing, in Grenadian international striker Kithson Bain, played the full 90 minutes of the game and his was pass that set up Charlie Barnett for the only goal of the night.

Rochdale are now third in the table after they defeated Accrington Stanley 3-2 at home, in a match played at Dark Lane, Rossendale United FC. All the goals coming in the second-half as the 'Dale went 3-0 up through Tom Bentham, Scott Hogan and Callum Byrne before Stanley pulled back two goals, one of them from the penalty spot, in the last 20 minutes, to make it a nervy finish for the home side.

Elsewhere in the division Wrexham remained unbeaten with a 2-1 win at Oldham, the match taking place at Hyde United's Ewen Fields. Wrexham 2-0 up at the interval thanks to Adrian Cielewicz and a Lamine Sakho spot-kick, the goal that would only prove to be a consolation for the Latics coming from the boot of Kieran Lee 15 minutes from time.

As we already know Carlisle won 4-1 at Morecambe to remain at the top of the table, Tony Kane, Craig Lindfield, Gavin Rothery and Ryan Bowman scoring for United while Henry McStay netted for the Shrimps. The Blues take a week off next week, Carlisle's next second-string outing being an another away game, this time at Ewen Fields, Hyde United against Oldham in a 7pm kick-off on Wednesday 23rd September.
