The only other winners in the division this week apart from Carlisle were Tranmere who defeated Morecambe 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Kirklands, the home of Cammell Laird FC. The Rovers goals coming in the first-half through Michael Ricketts and then after the interval from Josh Macauley and Ryan Fraughan.

The other two games played finished 2-2 and the first of those was Preston drawing at home to league new boys Oldham at Irongate, Bamber Bridge FC. Goals from Atilla Beszterczei and Kieran Lee had given the Latics the lead at the break, but Danny Mayor and Dominic Collins struck for North End in the second-half to ensure that honours finished even.

Down in North Wales, Wrexham, back in the division after a season away, and Rochdale locked horns at Globe Way, the home of Buckley Town FC. All the goals coming after the interval as a Wes Baynes brace looked to have given the Red Dragons all three points only for the visitors to roar back and grab a point with two goals in the last four minutes through Scott Spencer and Jon Shaw.

As we already know Carlisle hammered Blackpool 7-3 at Brunton Park on Monday afternoon, the United goals coming from Gavin Rothery 2, trialist Craig Lindfield, Tom Aldred, Gary Madine, Andy Cook and Ryan Bowman. The three Seasiders strikes coming from a Steven Swinglehurst own goal, Ishmel Demontagnac from the penalty spot and Troy Hewitt.

Even at this early stage of the season everyone gets a week off next week, apart from Oldham who do have a match at Middlesbrough in the League Cup, a competition teams only enter at their own choice. United's next game is therefore a week on Wednesday night at Morecambe's Christie Park, Preston the side out of action in a nine club division after Manchester City third team's late withdrawal from the league.
