Reserves League Round-Up This Week

Last updated : 24 October 2008 By Thetashkentterror
Burnley moved back up to the top of the table with a 2-1 win away to Blackpool in a match played at Highbury, the home of Fleetwood Town FC. All the goals came in the second-half with the Clarets going 1-0 up thanks to Chris Anderson on 49 minutes, the Seasiders then levelling just four minutes later through Matty Kay. Wes Fletcher popped up in the 83rd minute for the visitors though to grab them a late win.

Now in second Tranmere drew 2-2 at Manchester City's alternative home venue of Hyde United's Ewen Fields. The Citizens scored first on 34 minutes through Craig Frater, only for Rovers to level two minutes later when Danny Holmes netted with a mishit cross. City retook the lead 35 seconds after the interval when Frater scored his second of the game, but Gareth Edds was to head into the home net four minutes from time to ensure that honours finished even.

Down at the bottom end of the table Bury won 3-2 at home to Rochdale, in a match played at Radcliffe Borough's Stainton Park. Bury have no mention of the result on their dire official website but Joe Reidy scored both Rochdale goals. Meanwhile last season's title-winners, in Morecambe, are still looking for their first win of the current campaign after losing 2-0 at Accrington, striker Andrew Smith getting both Stanley goals.

As we already know Carlisle won 2-1 away to Preston, at Chorley FC's ground, Danny Carlton and Gary Madine scoring for United while Rob Turner netted for North End. The next game for the second-string Blues coming on Monday 10th November when they play Tranmere at home in a 7pm kick-off, the division as a whole taking time off next week with a full round of Football League fixtures scheduled.
