Reserves League Round-Up This Week

Tranmere were one of the sides in action and they stay at the top of the table after drawing 1-1 at home to Bury. Neither club seems to want to say who scored but, suffice to say, Rovers went behind in the last minute of the first-half at Prenton Park, but drew level early in the second thanks to an own goal.

Over at Christie Park and last season's title-winners Morecambe grabbed only their second point from their opening five games with a 1-1 draw at home to Preston. Aaron Taylor put the home side ahead with a header in the 26th minute, North End then equalising four minutes before the break when Nathan Fairhurst scored from close range.

The two matches that were postponed due to waterlogged pitches were both at alternative venues, those being Burnley v Manchester City at Accrington Stanley's Fraser Eagle Stadium, and Rochdale v Accrington themselves at Dark Lane, the home of Rossendale United.

As we already know Carlisle won 5-2 at home to Blackpool on Monday night, the United goals coming from Jeff Smith (2), Gary Madine, Grant Smith and Connor Tinnion, while Ben Fishwick and Lewis Almond scored for the Seasiders. Next week the Blues will hopefully chalk off a game that was postponed in late August due to the Carling Cup tie at QPR, that being a trip to Accrington Stanley on Wednesday night in a 7pm kick-off.
