With the cold snap coming in midweek Manchester City were just able to get their game on at the Regional Athletics Arena on Tuesday afternoon, and it was worth it when the Citizens beat table-toppers Preston North End 3-0. Danny Sturridge scored twice in the game with goals on nine and 49 minutes before recent signing from FC Basel, in Felipe Caicedo, put the cherry on the cake with an injury time finish.

Wrexham, at their reserve home venue, Globe Way, Buckley Town FC, hammered Rochdale 5-0 on Monday night. The goals from the Red Dragons coming from Eifion Williams on 29 minutes, Mike Carvill on the hour mark, and Lee Jones two minutes later before Williams and Carvill completed goalscoring braces with strikes on 74 and 78 minutes respectively.

As we already know Carlisle's scheduled match at home to Bury was postponed due to a frozen pitch at Brunton Park. United's next chance to return to action in the second-string league being an away game against Rochdale at Dark Lane, Rossendale United FC next Wednesday afternoon.
