North End extended their lead at the top of the table to eight points following a 1-0 win away to second-placed Blackpool, in a match played at Highbury, the home of Fleetwood Town FC. It was an old Tangerine who did the damage to the Seasiders too, Brett Ormerod scoring the only goal of the game in the very last minute to steal all three points.

Manchester City meanwhile moved into fifth spot in the division thanks to a 2-1 win at Chester's Deva Stadium in a match that had been brought forward seven days at the last minute. Chris Holroyd was the goalscorer for the home side while the Manchester City scorers have not been recorded.

In the only other game this week Wrexham moved off the bottom of the table as they put Rochdale in the same place they had been before kick-off with a 3-0 away win at Dark Lane, the home of Rossendale United FC. Rob Duffy, on-loan at Wrexham from Oxford, bagged a brace on three minutes and 62 minutes, with Marc Williams scoring the other goal for the Red Dragons just before the hour mark.
