Reserves League Round-Up This Week

Blackpool moved up to second place in the table with a 2-0 win away to Wrexham on Monday night, the match taking place at Globe Way, the home of Buckley Town FC. The Seasiders left it late to grab all three points though with both goals coming from Danny Mitchley in the last eight minutes. The young striker netting on 82 minutes before converting his own penalty award just three minutes later.

Meanwhile Burnley lost 3-2 at home to Manchester City last night at Accrington Stanley's Fraser Eagle Stadium. The Clarets opened the scoring before the break through Adam Kay only for the visitors to race into a 3-1 lead with three goals in 17 minutes midway through the second-half, the City strikes coming from Robert Mak (2) and Jack Redshaw. James Craggs pulled a goal back for Burnley late on but the Citizens were able to hang on for all three points.

The second-string league takes a couple of weeks off now during the busy Christmas period with Carlisle next back in action on Wednesday the 9th of January at home to Wrexham in a 2pm kick-off at Brunton Park. United, who have played the fewest amount of games in the division so far hoping that yet another game isn't postponed in the New Year with their reserves fixture list already backing up alarmingly.
