Oldham's table-topping lead was cut to five points after they could only draw 2-2 away to Bury at the Inn2gether Stadium, Radcliffe Borough. The Shakers took the lead in the 17th minute through Jack Dorney with Matty Wolfenden equalising for the Latics eight minutes later. Bury re-took the lead three minutes after the break with a goal from Dale Stephens only for the Latics to once more draw level thanks to Chris Baguley ten minutes later as the game ended 2-2.

Tranmere were the team putting pressure on Oldham in the title race as they moved into second spot with a 3-1 home win that all but extinguishes Blackpool's faint hopes of finishing top at the end of the season. Rovers took the lead on 20 minutes through Paul Henry before doubling their advantage three minutes into the second-half thanks to a goal from Craig Curran. The visitors pulled one back midway through the period when Dax Hoogerwerf netted but Terry Gornell made all three points safe for Rovers fifteen minutes before the final whistle.

Accrington were another side seeing their title hopes trampled into the dirt as they crashed 5-1 at Preston, that defeat being Stanley's heaviest of their second-string season so far. Neil Mellor with a brace, Matty Mainwaring, Seyfo Soley and Patrick Agyemang scored the goals for a strong North End outfit while Leighton McGivern notched the visitors consolation effort.

Down in the lower reaches of the table Wrexham won for the second reserve game in a row as they emerged with a 2-1 win from an away fixture with Rochdale, the match being played at Dark Lane, the home of cash-strapped Rossendale United FC. Jamie Reed scored both goals for the Red Dragons with a penalty on 55 minutes and a close-range finish nine minutes later. Danny Reet pulled a goal back shortly afterwards for 'Dale but the Welshmen managed to hang on to the final whistle for all three points.

As we know the Blues drew 1-1 at home to Manchester City, the goals coming from Gary Madine for the home side and David Ball for the visitors, the result seeing United move a point clear of Chester City at the foot of the table. Carlisle actually face a trip to the Deva Stadium outfit next week in an afternoon kick-off that could go a long way to deciding who goes home with the wooden spoon at the end of the season.
