Accrington's David Brown
Accrington Stanley were the biggest winners this week as they surprisingly hammered Blackpool 6-1 away in a match played at Highbury, the home of Fleetwood Town FC. The Seasiders actually took the lead in the match but Stanley completely dominated the game and at half-time were leading 3-1. The second half was much of the same, with Stanley bagging three more goals, their efforts on the night scored by David Brown with two, Andy Mangan, Andrew Smith, John Boggan and Olayiwola Bolajii.

Rochdale also romped home in their own fixture against Manchester City, played at Dark Lane, the home of Rossendale United. An own goal by City keeper Laurence Mathewson started the rout, with giant ex-Torquay striker Morike Sako bagging a brace to leave the 'Dale 3-0 up at the break. Trialist Shane Paul, ex-Aston Villa, made it 4-0 before the Citizens pulled the score back to 4-1 through a James Poole penalty with five minutes left, Clive Moyo-Modise restored the four goal advantage to the home side three minutes later though to leave the final score at 5-1 to the 'Dale.

Oldham were next up on the goals tally as they only managed to beat Tranmere 4-1 on the road, Rovers actually being 1-0 ahead at the break through a 39th minute John Corrigan goal. The Latics came storming back after the interval though and equalised seconds in through Chris Taylor, a penalty by Chris Porter then putting the visitors 2-1 up after 57 minutes. A 71st minute goal from Craig Rocastle, then a second for Taylor in the 77th minute completing the monster comeback by the visitors.

In a mini-derby on Monday afternoon Wrexham defeated Chester 1-0 in a home match for the Red Dragons played at Globe Way, Buckley Town. Levi Mackin grabbing the all-important only goal of the game in the 39th minute in front of a healthy second-string crowd of 284 spectators. As we know, United produced an amazing comeback to nick a point at Bury, late goals from a Danny Livesey brace and Stephen Hindmarch meaning the game ended all-square at 3-3.
