It was the usual mix of out of favour squad members, injury returnees and youngsters that made the trip over to Middlesbrough today for Carlisle for a behind closed doors friendly at the home side's Rockcliffe Park training complex, with United taking the lead with only ten minutes on the clock when Peter Murphy's cross into the box deflected into the net off a Boro defender.

The home side though managed to find a levelling goal five minutes before the break when Romeo Castelen scored from Merouane Zemmama's quickly taken free-kick. Carlisle fighting back though and grabbing a 2-1 win when Danny Cadamarteri was brought down and David Symington hammered the resultant free-kick beyond the reach of Boro goalkeeper Connor Ripley.
