Gateshead Reserves 0-2 United Reserves

In their first announced friendly of the season the Cumbrians travelled eastwards to take on a reserve Gateshead side, the game this time though getting finished unlike Carlisle's first team pre-season match at the International Stadium. It was the usual mix of youngsters and out of favour professionals in the Blues line-up, along with trialist Alex Fisher, a 21-year old former Oxford United striker who is currently at the Glenn Hoddle Academy.

It was Fisher who impressed in front of the Gateshead goal too as he scored both Carlisle goals, one in either half, while also playing the full 90 minutes in the game. As far as first-teamers go Danny Livesey, Stephen O'Halloran and Andy Welsh all featured for the whole match, while Tom Taiwo, Jon-Paul McGovern and Craig Curran were all substituted for youth tam players during the game.
