Colwyn Bay have beaten off competition from UniBond Premier sides Witton Albion and Eastwood Town for the signature of 28-year-old forward Phil Hadland from Kidsgrove Athletic.



Bob Morton, director of football at UniBond League Division One North club Newcastle Blue Star, revealed that the signing of former Newcastle United striker Paul Brayson underlined his side's ambition for next season. Morton has signed three players from Gateshead during the close season in Brayson, JAMIE MCCLEN and Steve Bowey, and is hoping his side can make a success of their Unibond First Division campaign next term.

Brayson has scored goals throughout his career at both Football League and non-League level and will relish the chance to lead the line for Morton and his coaching team of MARK BIRCH and Dean Gordon.



Aberdeen have dropped their interest in Southend United striker Richie Foran but told supporters the decision has nothing to do with finances.



Twenty-five year old Glentoran midfielder Willo McDonagh has signed a pre-contract agreement with Glenavon which will see him at Mourneview Park for the next two seasons.



Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies has completed the signing of former Gretna midfielder GAVIN SKELTON and re-signed forward David Fernandez. The Rugby Park manager also hopes to tie up a new deal for Mehdi Taouil, but the signing of another ex-Gretna player, Abdul Osman, has hit a snag.



Former Mansfield Town favourite KEVIN GRAY is one of several central defenders on acting boss Paul Holland's short-list of targets for the Blue Square Premier new boys. The two are good friends from their time at Field Mill together in the early 1990s. Sheffield-born Gray is a veteran of more than 500 senior outings, after making his Football League debut for the Stags in 1988/89 as a teenager.



UniBond League Premier Division club Witton Albion have made their first signing of the summer. Midfield enforcer SCOTT WILLIS arrived at Wincham Park to become Nigel Deeley's first new recruit having spent last season at Leigh RMI. "Scott is exactly the type of character we need," said Deeley.



Leicester City have appointed former Southampton boss NIGEL PEARSON as their new manager. Pearson succeeds Ian Holloway and becomes the sixth boss during chairman Milan Mandaric's 16-month reign.



FC United are pleased to announce the signing of pacey forward CARLOS ROCA and manager Karl Marginson expressed his delight at having secured his signature: "I have been trying to sign Carlos for three seasons, he is pure quality and I am delighted that he will be joining us next season," said Margy.

"Carlos is an ambitious player and after being released by Altrincham he had a number of clubs chasing his signature but he decided to sign for FC United after hearing reports about the fantastic support at matches. I am confident he will prove to be a great signing for the club."



Former Sunderland goalkeeper Tim Carter has been found dead in Manchester. The body of the 40-year-old, from County Durham, was discovered in bushes by a passer-by in the Highfield Close area of Stretford, Greater Manchester.



Harrogate Town have signed NICKY GRAY from Halifax Town. Nicky who can play left or right midfield (and also in defence) follows Ryan Toulson in joining Town from the Shaymen.



Southampton have confirmed former caretaker bosses JOHN GORMAN and Jason Dodd have left the club. The pair took charge at St Mary's when George Burley was appointed Scotland boss in January. Gorman and Dodd remained part of the club's backroom staff when Nigel Pearson took charge but are no longer required by new boss Jan Poortvliet.



Workington Reds have pulled off a massive coup by signing the experienced former Carlisle United defender and captain Kevin Gray. The 36-year-old central defender, released by Chesterfield in the summer, is living and working in Carlisle and has opted to play for Reds in Blue Square North.



Wycombe Wanderers have made their fifth signing of the summer, in the form of Brazilian forward Magno Silva Vieira. The 23-year-old has agreed a one-year deal at Adams Park, which could be extended by a further year depending on appearances.



Barnsley Football Club can confirm that PAUL REID has today left Oakwell after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent. Paul signed for the Reds in July 2004 but struggled for games last season following the emergence of Dennis Souza and Stephen Foster at the heart of defence.
