Walsall Football Club have today extended the contract of PAUL BOERTIEN until the end of the season. The Saddlers' left-back signed a six-month contract in the summer and boss Chris Hutchings is delighted to have secured the services of the 30 year-old for the remainder of the campaign.

Former Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers striker Matt Jansen is expected to feature for the Huddersfield Town reserve team in their totesport.com League game at Rotherham United this evening. The 31-year old forward has been training with the Town squad since the start of the week and is expected to play a part in this evening's game, kick-off 7pm at the Don Valley Stadium.

Oxford United will have a new face in the squad to face Torquay tomorrow following the signing of KEVIN SANDWITH this afternoon. The thirty year old former Weymouth player can operate at left back, left midfield or at centre half and having left the Terras last week joins The U's until the end of the season.

Kevin began his career in his native Cumbria with Carlisle before spells at Barrow and Telford. In 2001 he signed for Doncaster Rovers before linking up with Chris Wilder at Halifax in 2002. His defensive abilities and dead ball delivery caught the eye of Lincoln City who paid £10,000 for his services in March 2004, where he spent a season and a half before joining Macclesfield Town.

Kevin scored a spectacular free-kick goal for the Silkmen against United at the Kassam Stadium in 2005/6. Former United boss Mark Wright then took him to Chester City, where he made over fifty appearances before moving to Weymouth last summer. Kevin played in both games against the U's this season.

Blue Square Premier strugglers Northwich Victoria have appointed ANDY PREECE as their caretaker-manager to replace Steve King, who resigned last Saturday. Blackpool-based Preece has been out of the game since leaving Blue Square South side Worcester City in October 2007 where he was player-manager for nearly three years. Preece was also previously player-manager of Coca-Cola League Two side Bury after an extensive Football League playing career.
