Hamilton boss Billy Reid has snapped up strike duo Derek Asamoah and CHRISTY FAGAN on short-term deals. Nineteen-year-old Fagan was recently on trial at Huddersfield Town while Asamoah has been without a club since being released by French club Nice in January. The former Northampton Town, Mansfield Town, Lincoln City and Shrewsbury Town forward will remain at New Douglas Park until the end of the season.

Major League Soccer franchise Los Angeles Galaxy want to draft in Brighton's CHRIS BIRCHALL as cover for David Beckham, reports BBC Radio Stoke. The Trinidad and Tobago international has been offered a two-year deal, but it would need him to have his contract terminated by the Seagulls. The 24-year-old can play on the right or in the centre of midfield, and played in the 2006 World Cup finals. Beckham is on loan at AC Milan until the end of the season.

Brighton chairman Dick Knight has blocked midfielder CHRIS BIRCHALL'S proposed move to Major League Soccer franchise Los Angeles Galaxy. The Trinidad and Tobago international was offered a two-year deal, but he needed to be a free agent to get the move to the states. But Seagulls chairman Knight is thought to have told the 24-year-old that he will not be allowed to leave on a free.

Birchall signed from Coventry on a free transfer until the end of the season. He signed for Coventry City in 2006 for £300,000 from Port Vale where he started his career, and joined Brighton in January on a free transfer. He played in the crucial 2-1 win at Hereford on Tuesday night, and talked to the club about releasing him from his contract afterwards as they battle relegation.

Aldershot manager Gary Waddock has confirmed three players including captain Rhys Day will not be offered new contracts next season. Defender Day and strikers Rob Elvins and JUNIOR MENDES will not have their deals renewed in the summer.

Day, 26, departs the club after three seasons and 112 appearances for the Shots after being signed by Terry Brown in the summer of 2006. Elvins, 22, has been with Aldershot for two seasons after joining from West Bromwich Albion. Mendes, 32, is currently on loan at Blue Square Premier play-off hopefuls Stevenage Borough, after joining the Shots in 2008.

Key defenders KYLE MAY and LEE ANDREWS have both put pen-to-paper and signed two-year deals at Blue Square North club Workington. The defensive duo grew up together and played in the same Carlisle United youth team and that is the main reason they agreed to stop on.

May said: "I was very happy to sign on again. This is a very good group of lads and I want to stop here so I can see how we develop as a team. We are going places. We all believe that and I want to be part of that. To sign along with Lee means a lot to me because he is one of my best friends in life as well as football. I have enjoyed playing with him this season. I think we have done well and we will just get better next year."

Andrews added: "It was an easy decision for me to sign the contract and that was made even easier knowing Kyle would be here too. The lads here are great and the banter is fantastic. If we can keep this squad together and make some decent signings in the summer than I am confident we will have a great season next year."

Ipswich Town Football Club have today terminated the contract of manager Jim Magilton. Magilton took over as manager in June 2006 and steered the Club to 14th in the table and then eighth last season but following further investment in the squad this season, Blues will finish outside the Play-Off places.

Assistant manager JOHN GORMAN has also left the Club. The former England coach, who arrived at Portman Road at the turn of the year, was on a short term contract until the summer.

Wrexham have released keepers Gavin Ward and ANTHONY WILLIAMS plus defender Chris Marriott as boss Dean Saunders restructures his squad for next season. Former Feyenoord man Christian Gyan will not be returning after the end of his short-term loan deal. Saunders says he has offered deals to Mike Williams, Mani Assoumani and Jamie McCluskey and is talking to MATT JANSEN who faces a summer knee operation.

Just days after returning from a loan spell with Ebbsfleet United, Rashid Yussuff will take to the Stonebridge Road pitch again when an inexperienced Charlton reserve team ends its season with a clash against Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday (7pm).

Randolph is named in goal, behind a back four of Tottenham Hotspur trialist CIAN HUGHTON - son of Newcastle United coach Chris - Yado Mambo, Sam Long and Jack Clark. Long recently completed work experience terms with Grays Athletic after learning he will be released by the Addicks in the summer.

KEVIN SANDWITH has signed a new one-year deal with Blue Square Premier side Oxford United. The defender will stay with the club after a successful two-month stint. The 30-year-old quit troubled Weymouth in February and linked up immediately with U's manager Chris Wilder, who had previously been his boss at Halifax.

He told BBC Oxford: "It's a big relief to get it sorted so early. Now I can enjoy my summer and look forward to the coming season. I knew the size of the club I was coming to anyway [but] to be involved in these big games and the crowds turning out like they did do, it makes your mind up for you. It's really good to be on board."
