Off we go again as United got their 2013-14 League One pre-season programme underway at Frenchfields this evening, Carlisle's team featuring three trialists in Paul Weldon, Danny Emerton and Jordan Deacey, alongside a mixture of senior professionals, some first year pros and a healthy sprinkling of players from United's youth team ranks.

After a tight first-half in the game Carlisle took the lead in the 58th minute when Alex Salmon scored what would prove to be the only goal of the game, Salmon reacting quickly to Dave Symington's scuffed shot to fire home into the Penrith net beyond former United youth team keeper Jonny Jamieson. Carlisle now facing a quick Cumbrian turn-around as they face Kendal Town away from home tomorrow afternoon in a 3pm kick-off.
