Ex-Magpie Martin Brittain
Martin Brittain has been handed a further opportunity to prove his worth to Carlisle, after the League One side handed him a one-month deal. The 22-year-old has been training with Neil McDonald's side in pre-season, and the former Newcastle man has earned himself a chance to impress as Carlisle kick off their new campaign.

Right-winger Brittain played a key part in his new side's 2-1 win over Blackpool in a pre-season friendly, and McDonald has been pleased with his trialist's progress. McDonald told the club's official website:

"He's enjoyed himself and done well since he got here, and he showed us last weekend that he can fit in with the way we like to play. We now need a little bit more time to have a look at him, so we're pleased to have him here for this month-long period. We can see what happens from there."
