United Pick Cherries In FA Cup

After defeating Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Ebbsfleet United 4-2 at home yesterday at the first stage of the competition, Carlisle, as ball number 40 and in their sixth Brunton Park cup game of the season, now face Bournemouth at home in the second round draw of the FA Cup, which was made this afternoon, with the Blues and the Cherries being pulled out of the goldfish bowl by Cyrille Regis and John Wark respectively at Wembley Stadium.

United won't be going into the game, which will be played over the weekend of Saturday 1st December and carries a winning prize fee of £27,000, 100% full of confidence though having been thumped 4-2 at home to Bournemouth just last week. The only previous FA Cup tie between the two sides meanwhile having been played in Dorset as Carlisle lost a second round tie 2-1 at Dean Court in the 2004-05 season.

Elsewhere in the draw, we are assured of non-league representation in the third round of the competition thanks to a couple of ties, with one in particular being Harrogate Town at home to Hastings United, while the results of replays could see Milton Keynes Dons at home to AFC Wimbledon. As far as potentially televised ties goes there aren't many standouts and so Carlisle v Bournemouth could be in with a chance.
