The Lewisham-born teeenager, with a catchy full name of Kenny Oluwafemi Gbolahan Ademola Orenuga, first signed for Southend United at the age of 13 in 2006 where he would become the Shrimpers's youngest ever first team player, at the age of just over 15 and a half, when he came on as a 93rd minute substitute in their 3–1 victory over Luton Town in the FA Cup second round in late November 2008.

That Orenuga's only ever appearance at Roots Hall, but it must have been an impressive one though as he soon signed for Premier League Everton in March 2009 on a three year scholarship deal for an initial fee of £30,000 plus future payments based on appearances. It was straight into the Academy at Goodison Park for Femi then and according to Toffeeweb he made 34 starts, 17 substitute appearances and scored one goal at that level for the Merseysiders in the league and FA Youth Cup, with his reserve team league record meanwhile in his time with Everton reading five starts, six substitute appearances and no goals.

In search of senior game time Orenuga was then sent out on loan to Notts County for a month in October 2011, where he made two substitute appearances and scored no goals at Meadow Lane before returning to Goodison Park. A shoulder injury, with resultant complications, picked up in November last year then seeing Femi sidelined until early March 2012.

The following month however he went over to the United States to play for the Academy team in the Dallas Cup, Everton losing 2-0 to Manchester United in the semi-finals of the tournament. The 19-year old was released by the Toffeemen in the summer though and he now makes his way up to Cumbria on a week's trial with one of the many other Blues in the footballing world, Femi having also had a recent trial spell at Hartlepool two weeks where he played in a 4-0 reserve team defeat against Chesterfield.
