Former Blues stalwart Tom Cowan
Bellshill-born Cowan, now 37, started his professional career at Clyde. He was picked up by Glasgow Rangers where he took part in fifteen games, before moving into the English League with Sheffield United. Whilst with the Blades he had loans with Stoke and Huddersfield, the latter becoming a permanent deal in 1994.

After five years and over 100 appearances at Huddersfield Town he had spells at Burnley, Cambridge, Peterborough and York before moving back across the border to Dundee. He was one of the players released by Dundee after the club went into administration, joining Carlisle United in November 2003.

He moved to Cumbrian neighbours Barrow in the summer of 2005 and then Workington before joining Stalybridge Celtic last March after a short spell with Blue Square North rivals Hucknall Town.

37-year old Cowan made 59 appearances, and scored three goals, for Carlisle in his injury-hit time at Brunton Park. Cowan joined the club in November 2003 with his last game for the Blues being the Nationwide Conference play-off final victory over Stevenage Borough at the Britannia Stadium in May 2005.
