Tom Cowan On The Move Again

The Yellows have cancelled the contract of veteran defender Tom Cowan, who has been allowed to join fellow Nationwide Conference North side Stalybridge Celtic. Bellshill-born Cowan (37) lists Rangers, Sheffield United, Stoke, Huddersfield, Burnley, Cambridge United, Peterborough, York City, Dundee, Carlisle and Barrow among his previous clubs in a professional career spanning more than 15 years and was signed by former manager Kevin Wilson last October.

He made 18 league and cup appearances for The Yellows, scoring one goal, having joined them from Workington Reds in October, that now making Stalybridge Celtic the third Conference North club he has played for this season. Cowan initially moving to Reds after losing his job as a talent scout at Scottish Division One leaders Gretna.

37-year old Cowan made 59 appearances, and scored three goals, for Carlisle in his injury-hit time at Brunton Park. Cowan joined the club in November 2003 with his last game for the Blues being the Nationwide Conference play-off final victory over Stevenage Borough at the Britannia Stadium in May 2005.
