The Carlisle-born frontman, whose 12-month contract was to due to expire at the end of the current campaign, suffered a bad knee injury last season which he has struggled to come back from and with first-team opportunities limited at Brunton Park he, and to a lesser degree the United management, have decided on a change of direction in his life after he came through the youth ranks at the club.

Pete is currently out on loan at Lee Ashcroft's Kendal Town in the Unibond Premier League and will see out that temporary transfer but he will not return to United once the spell is finished. The 20-year old spent another spell out on loan earlier this season when he joined Workington Reds for a month over late October and early November in an effort to aid the West Cumbrian club's quest for promotion into the Nationwide Conference. The loan spell at Borough Park wasn't extended though and Pete returned to reserve-team football at Brunton Park.
