Macclesfield Match ON After Pitch Inspection

Following a scheduled 12.30pm inspection, which eventually turned into a just after 1pm inspection, the game was given the go ahead by a local referee. The actual match tonight will be officiated by Mick Thorpe of Ipswich in Suffolk, it may seem a long way for a referee to come but LDV Area Finals are awarded to referees on merit at this stage as opposed to geographical location.
Apparently the area in front of the home fans' Star Lane End had been struggling a little to thaw out after the heavy frosts that were the norm last week until Saturday night.
The covers were taken off this morning and seemingly revealed a little bit of frost in the ground but with temperatures well above freezing today and some in the air the pitch has been passed as fit for play.
