Lincoln Match OFF Following Pitch Inspection

Last updated : 03 March 2006 By Thetashkentterror
Following a pitch inspection at Brunton Park at 3pm this afternoon by local referee Chris Brumwell, the decision has been made to call off the promotion six-pointer against Lincoln City tomorrow.

With the terrible cold snap this week the pitch is frozen solid, leaving no option but to pull the plug on the game 24 hours before the scheduled kick-off time. According to Mr Brumwell the Waterworks End of the pitch was firm but playable, although the Warwick Road half, presumably due to the shadow of the stand roof stopping the sun from getting to it, was too hard and constituted a risk to the safety of the players.

No date has been announced yet for the rearrangement of the fixture.

* There will be a pitch inspection for tomorrow's Cumberland Cup game against Carlisle City at Sheepmount, which was scheduled to be a noon kick-off, at 9am tomorrow morning.
