Kirky Shipped Off To The Clyde

Dan Kirkup - Broadwood bound
In a somewhat surprising move, given his form in pre-season and United's lack of defensive cover at the time of typing, even including the loan signing today of Chelsea's Harry Worley, Kirky has moved north this evening as he crosses the border to ply his trade in the IRN-BRU Scottish League Division One for four months.

Clyde, under the management of ex-Scotland international centre-half Colin Hendry, have struggled early on this season, losing three out of their four league game while conceding nine goals in the process. 19-year old Kirkup, who spent three months on loan at Conference side Southport last season, seemingly brought in to shore up the Bully Wee back-line.

United were recently linked by the Sunday papers in a £100,000 deal for a centre-half at Clyde called Neil McGregor and the departure of Kirkup to the Broadwood Stadium can only fan the flames of rumours on that move with the international transfer window closing tomorrow night. Hendry has also signed Port Vale winger Joe Cardle on loan until the end of December with the Bully Wee boss telling his club's official website about the temporary transfers :

"Joe will certainly help us to create chances in the final third while Danny is a 6'4", right-sided defender who will add some strength and height to the team and we need that at the moment. I'm really pleased to get these guys in they've both played at a good level down south and we will benefit from that."
