Friday night fun at an extremely wet Parkside Road with heavy rain hammering down for the majority of the game. For Carlisle, Ben Mckenna and Brad Potts absent injured, Danish trialists Michael Brodersen and Lasse Merring-Mikkelsen feature, along with the more local trialist Stuart Green, two teams of eleven play a half apiece for United with Tony Caig and then youth teamers Will James, Dave Symington and Josh Todd available as substitutes if required.

Carlisle start the match playing the diamond formation with Adam Collin in goal and Steven Swinglehurst, Stephen O'Halloran, Danny Livesey and Frank Simek across the back four from left to right. At the base of the midfield diamond is Paul Thirlwell, on the left edge is James Berrett, the right belongs to Tom Taiwo and at the tip is Jon-Paul McGovern.
