James Earl Joins The Cumbrians Pro Ranks

The Carlisle born 18-year old has been a permanent member in the youth team this season, while also making some cameo appearances for the United second-string. Earl played 30 times for the youth team in the campaign just gone, scoring six goals in the process, although his appearances have been limited by continual ankle injury problems. The youngster will be hoping to put those troubles behind him, although whether they are the reason for the award of only a six-month contract, compared to the one-year ones handed out recently to others, remains to be seen.

He joins fellow youth-teamers in centre-half Dan Kirkup, frontman Pete Ferris and goalkeeper Adam Bradley in moving in to the professional ranks as the Cumbrians look to get back to their good run of bringing youth-teamers through to the first-team in the 1990's. Earl is regarded as a set-piece specialist at the club, and always gives 100% to the cause as he gets up and down the pitch for a full 90 minutes without stopping for a breather, and he will be hoping to get off to a good start next season as he looks to win a further contract at Christmas.
