Ex-Dynamo Kiev youngster Pronevych was at Brunton Park for an extended trial at the end of July and beginning of August this year.

The Ukranian, who had been involved in the European Under-18 Championships of 2000 for his home country, left United after a week with Blues boss Paul Simpson commenting that "he isn't quite what we are looking for at the moment." A day later Simmo signed ex-Newcastle star Jamie McClen, who had also been on trial with Carlisle, on a six-month deal as he looked to bolster his squad in midfield.

Pronevych's last spell in England had also ended with an unsuccessful trial spell after he had been passed over by London side Millwall in the summer of 2004.

This time he played a full 90 minutes of a 5-0 friendly victory for United over Carlisle City on the 27th July. He impressed enough in that game to be kept on and played a part in the 2-1 pre-season win over Workington Reds on the 2nd of August.

That was all we would see of the Eastern European though as he left the club just a day later following Simmo's decision not to sign him on.

Pronevych later linked up with Dumfries outfit Queen of the South in which he had an extended trial spell. He made two subsitute appearances as "A Trialist" for the Doonhamers and set up the winning goal as they defeated Airdrie United 1-0 on October 15th. He also played as a second-half replacement for Willie Gibson in Queens' 3-1 defeat at home to St Johnstone a week later.

The Doonhamers stalled on offering him a contract though due to financial restrictions at the club and Pronevych was last involved in a 3-2 reserves defeat for Queens at Partick on the 9th of November.

Killie decided to take a look at what the Ukranian had to offer shortly afterwards and following a successful trial last week Pronevych signed amateur forms with the Ayrshire club until the end of 2005.

Manager Jim Jefferies was quoted as saying :

"Dmytro is a skilful midfield player who looks comfortable on the ball. We've managed to sign him on a short deal to allow him to play in our reserve fixtures, but I've included him in tomorrow's squad and I'll make a decision in the morning on whether to put him on the bench."

Jefferies did decide to put the youngster on the substitutes bench and Pronevych was part of the first-team for the initial time on Saturday, incidentally on his 21st birthday, as Killie drew 2-2 at home to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
