Lee Sparks has become the latest North Lancashire League player to join Nationwide North strugglers Lancaster City as they try to stem their bad run of results. Saturday's 5-1 defeat to Scarborough means they are now thirteen points adrift at the foot of Nationwide North, with another ten points still to be deducted.

Manager Barrie Stimpson continued his search for talent to halt the slide and has turned to Sparks, who has been in great form for Marsh United, for the trip to struggling Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday. And there will be other new faces coming in over the next couple of weeks as Stimpson finally gets the chance to work with his squad in training, Stimpson saying :

"Lee looked lively in training and has been scoring lots of goals - he is arguably the best North Lancs striker at the moment in terms of form. There will be more players coming in. I have had two or three lads show interest and I have told them to come and train with us."

One of those players is Slovakian midfielder Matius Kneibugl from the Kendal area, who is expected to sign from Shap FC but not in time for Saturday's game. Kneibugl being "fondly" remembered for his shocking 45 minute effort on trial for Carlisle United in a pre-season friendly at Penrith in the summer of 2005.

Meanwhile, defender Steve Cudworth has decided to leave the club.
