The 36 year old retired at the end of the 2005-6 season and immediately joined Carlisle United working under Neil McDonald but has now moved to The Reebok to work alongside his former mentor Fred Barber.

With Barber having recently accepted a further part-time role with the Northern Ireland squad " Taffy" will be busy combining a role working with the youngsters in the Academy as well as the more senior keepers.

Current Rochdale boss Keith Hill knows "Taff" very well and joined everyone in wishing him well :

" He was great team mate of myself and Dave Flitcroft and he deserves every opportunity that he gets. He is a family man, a workaholic who loves the game and he has got a lot to offer. Bolton have recruited a very, very good goalkeeping coach who has a tremendous work ethic. We couldn't be more pleased for him and his family because he is a really genuine solid bloke."
