Cumberland Cup - Round Three Draw

Last updated : 21 December 2007 By Thetashkentterror
Yes, it's that time of year again as the draw comes out for the third stage of the County Cup. After enduring a freezing cold extra-time win at Cleator Moor Celtic in Round Three last season the good news is that United have bagged a draw at Brunton Park this time around, the Blues set to face a Kirkoswald side that ply their trade in Division Two of the Talbot Insurance Westmorland Football League.

The East Cumbrian side are currently having a good season though as they sit at the top of the table with seven wins and two draws from their nine league games played to date. Sean Elliott and Ross Cowperthwaite seemingly being their dangermen to look out for after grabbing 15 and 7 goals respectively in just those nine fixtures.

Carlisle, Workington and Penrith Town were the three clubs to have received a bye to this stage of the competition and a Rugby League derby between the Reds and Whitehaven is perhaps the tie of the round. Due to the quirky rules of the cup United must play their tie during the week and with plenty of youth and reserve games already coming up it remains to be seen when the Blues will pencil the fixture in to their busy second-string schedule.
