Cook Back At Barrow On Loan

Cook, having spent a loan spell at Workington early last season where he scored five times in 14 starts and eight substitute appearances, soon after joining Barrow for a temporary stint in which he impressed at a higher level, netting three times in two starts and three substitute appearances.

A broken bone in the left foot in mid-November cut that spell at Holker Street short though, with the 19-year old not returning to action until late in the season at reserve team level for Carlisle. Injuries to Luke Chadwick and Danny Forrest have seen Barrow make a move for Cook again now though, with Bluebirds joint-manager Dave Bayliss commenting to BBC Radio Cumbria on the signing of Cook :

" Obviously he did well when he came last year and he was getting a little run of games together. But unfortunately he had a reoccurence of a foot injury while he was on loan at Workington so that flared up again.

" So he had a fix corrected and now he is flying again in pre-season, it was always in our minds to get back in touch with Carlisle and see if we could have him, and they have been good enough to let him come for a month. With Cooky coming in it gives us a bit of cover for the other two strikers (Gregg Blundell and Jason Walker).

" He has become a bit stronger and he looks a bit more of a man and that is only good for us and Carlisle. We will look at him at the end of the month, we should have bodies back fit and that all depends on how Cooky does as well. I am sure that if he comes here and scores for fun then Carlisle might want him back, so it just depends."
