After beating Aspatria 9-1 at home in round two then Penrith 2-0 in a third round Brunton Park tie that was switched to Frenchfields, Carlisle will now play another Cumberland Cup match at home after drawing Wigton Harriers or Carlisle City in the quarter-finals, the winners of that game to be decided when the two sides face each other this Saturday afternoon after the tie was waterlogged off last weekend.

This season so far Wigton Harriers have only played once in the County Cup as they won 2-0 "on the road" in a very local derby against Wigton Athletic. As for Carlisle City, well they hammered west coast club Parton United 8-0 at home in round two before not having to play in the third round as they received an away walkover over Whitehaven AFC after Haven refused to arrange the fixture.

As for league action, Carlisle City are currently third in the Premier Division of the Northern Alliance League with a record of six wins, two draws and four defeats from their twelve games contested to date. Meanwhile Wigton Harriers are at the moment third bottom in a ten team Tesco Cumberland County League Premier Division on the back of a poor return of two wins, two draws and eight defeats from their twelve league matches so far this season.
