Carlisle At Celtic In Cumberland Cup

Last updated : 28 August 2012 By Thetashkentterror

It's the first time Carlisle have had to play in the first round of the Cumberland Cup in a long time, and with being both holders after beating Harraby Catholic Club 2-1 in last season's final, as well as the only full-time club in the competition, it seems crazy that what will essentially be United's youth team now has a frankly ridiculous six fixtures to add to their FA Youth Cup, Alliance Cup and Youth League calendar if they reach the final again this time around.

That won't be easy straight off though as they face a trip to Gillford Park, but to play Celtic Nation of course, the two sides having already met in a pre-season friendly at Raydale Park which finished 2-2. Both teams then having been shoved into a round one with six other fixtures which need to be played by the 25th of September, while 25 other clubs, one of which in Hensingham United once put 15 goals past, have received a bye into round two.
