Magno Vieira
The 21-year-old South American scored 11 goals in 31 appearances, plus 12 as a substitute, for Carlisle between August 2004 and May 2005, when he was at the Blues on a season-long loan from Wigan Athletic. Vieira enjoyed a very successful spell in his time at Brunton Park as he helped United back into the Football League at the first attempt, although then manager Paul Simpson was unable to sign him on a permanent basis, after his release by the Latics, due to work permit and visa problems.

Vieira is now able to in England though having married an Italian woman and comes to Barnet as a European Union citizen. Magno having been with the Bees on trial for a couple of weeks now, with manager Paul Fairclough offering him a contract last Monday. Barnet initially thought Vieira had turned down the one-year deal, with an additional 12 months option, but the Brazilian was apparently just taking time out to think over the offer.

Magno was also the subject of a contract offer from Conference outfit Southport but on Friday last week he rang boss Fairclough to accept the deal on the table from the Bees. How initially fit Vieira will be is open to question as he not played competitively for a year while living in Italy and Greece, but if the Brazilian can find some of the form he showed for the Blues, he could turn out to be a good summer signing for Barnet.
