ex-Carlisle star Allan Smart
The Perth-born forward who these days has a list of former clubs as long as his arm has been let go by the Ports on a free transfer. Smart joined the Reds in the summer of 2006 after being released by Bury and has scored nine goals this season although the club endured a disappointing season as they could only finish fourth in the table, Smart himself enduring a typically injury plagued campaign.

In his United days, which began with a one-month loan spell from Preston in November 1995, before the Scot signed on permanently at Brunton Park on a free transfer in October 1996, Smart scored a healthy 17 goals in 59 appearances for the club. His efforts upfront as a powerfully built striker in Carlisle's 1996-97 promotion winning side attracted the attention of other teams though with Allan eventually moving on to Watford for a fee of £100,000 in June 1998.

Meanwhile bulky veteran goalkeeper, and Portadown player of the year, Kevin Pressman, has also left Shamrock Park at the end of his current contract.
