United midfielder Adam Murray, who handed in a transfer request at the weekend to new Blues boss Neil McDonald, is quoted by TEAMtalk on his decision to ask leave the club, 24-year old Murray commenting : "I don't want to leave the club but I've been forced into handing in a transfer request. I don't understand why I'm not in the first-team plans and have asked to go on loan if that was the case. That's been refused, so I've been left with no alternative but to hand in a transfer request."

McDonald has today described Murray's decision as "impetuous", the Birmingham-born player seemingly being frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities at Brunton Park, and it remains to be seen where the two parties go from here. The Carlisle midfield trio of Chris Lumsdon, Paul Murray and Chris Billy performed well on Saturday in the win over Doncaster, and the one-year signing of Neale McDermott recently hasn't helped Murray's case for a place in the squad either, McDermott being on the bench on Saturday with Murray sat in the stands. The earliest internet rumour to surface has linked League Two side Macclesfield Town with being interested in making a move for the player whose contract at Brunton Park runs out at the end of this season.
