Wycombe boss, and one-time Carlisle player, John Gorman, spoke exclusively to BBC Radio Cumbria on Saturday evening as he gave his thoughts on his side's 1-0 win that extends their unbeaten league run to 19 matches :

" It was great to be back to be honest, it was fantastic. I thank the Carlisle fans for the tremendous reception I got before the game and during most of the game.

" I think they got a bit upset with me at the end when I celebrated. I celebrated rightly so I think though because I am the manager of Wycombe. I didn’t go as daft as I normally do if I’m being honest but it’s my team now and I coach them and manage them and I’m just proud of them.

" However, I still love the fans here at Carlisle, the fans who were right behind me and the whole ground. To be honest they are like, I wish I could take them back to Wycombe, I like the Wycombe fans don’t get me wrong but the passion of the Carlisle fans is like a goal start to any team.

" I disagree that we didn’t put the Carlisle keeper under pressure in the first half. I thought we were quite magnificent in the first half and we did have shots going wide and lots of efforts on goals. We were in total control and that was my worry."

" In the second half we had to fight and battle and we showed both sides of the game and we still played some beautiful football. That’s what pleased me, we played both good football and we defended with real desire to clear our lines and make stops and make blocks and that’s part of the game.

" That’s why Carlisle are doing so well because they’re not going to just sit back. In the first half I know Paul (Simpson) was very frustrated because they couldn’t get the ball off us.

" We defended a lot but we still got corners and shots in. Kevin Betsy at times wanted to walk the ball into the net, we could have had more goals if I’m being totally honest in the second half. We had lots of areas we got in well, if that had been at my end I would have been very worried because if Carlisle had got down to the by-line as many times as we did I think my heart would have been in my mouth. I think we were just as good in the second half but in a different way.

" That’s 19 league games unbeaten now and I think that is the last game in November if I’m not mistaken so that’s four months we’ve been unbeaten. It is a bit of a credit to the lads and the effort and the fantastic commitment they have shown.

" I’m not really bothered about the manager of the month award as long as we stay somewhere up there. I think that Carlisle will, after watching what they did in the second half especially, and the fans in particular, and the way that Paul has got them playing, go on to beat a lot of teams here and be right up there right to the end of the season. "
