Millwall boss Willlie Donachie spoke to BBC Radio London on Saturday evening as he talked about the dire performance of his players that saw them thumped by four goals to nil at Brunton Park :

" I think that the good win during the week misled a lot of people into believing we are better than we are. The players all of a sudden thought that they could win games without showing real passion and commitment and effort and we suffer the consequences. Hopefully the players learn from that and that sort of performance won't happen again.

" Like I said earlier I've got to apologise to the fans and everybody at the club for that performance on behalf of the players and everybody. It just wasn't anywhere near good enough, all I can hope is that the players learn from it and I'm sure they will. We need to get back to a Millwall-style of hard work, passion and good football.

" I was worried after five minutes, I thought that we just weren't up for it enough. Everybody says the right things before you go on the pitch but for some reason it just didn't happen today. Individual mistakes were going to happen from almost anywhere on the pitch. At the end of the game I felt that maybe Paul Robinson and Andy Frampton had done themselves credit and everybody else wasn't up to standard. So you can't have nine players taking no part in the game or you are going to lose 4-0.

" I said to them at half-time that the first-half was almost disgraceful. The lack of passion and effort on behalf of the club and for themselves. They are going to go nowhere in the game if they think that is good enough but I think that they did respond in the second-half. I felt that we could have had two or three goals and that people had real passion to score a goal.

" It still wasn't good enough though because they had two or three chances as well. It was an improvement on the first-half but I think, and hope, that everybody has learned from today that the main ingredients of any good team are hard work, passion and desire. They are not fashionable words but without them you never get anywhere.

" I hope that the players have learned from this big, big disappointment and I'm sure they will. We've got to drum it into them every minute of every day before the Gillingham game. If they go there with anything like this attitude then we are going to lose again and that's unacceptable. We've got to go there and get a result now. "
