Troy Archibald-Henville On The Match

Last updated : 15 September 2013 By Thetashkentterror

United loanee Troy Archibald-Henville (TA-H) spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Paul Newton (PN) following Carlisle's 1-0 League One victory at home to Sheffield United, the Swindon centre-half saying the Blues deserved the three points:

PN

A great win today, you must feel really relieved in that dressing room?

TA-H

I was really happy to get the win, and I think we have deserved it really with some of the last performances. I think we did well against Brentford, we did well last week but conceded late, which I think everyone was disappointed with, and we have managed to do it this week.

PN

Just one goal conceded in the three games you have played, you have obviously brought something to this defence?

TA-H

I am happy, I would like to think I have brought something, obviously I have come in and that is what I would like to do and that is what I was brought in to do. That is what I am here to try to prove that I am able to do, but with Swindon obviously as well, so I am glad it has happened.

PN

How did you find your partnership with Sean O’Hanlon today?

TA-H

Yeah, it was good to play alongside him, I have been impressed with him in training and stuff, I am happy he is back from injury, so it was nice.

PN

How difficult has this past week been obviously with the departure of Greg Abbott on Monday?

TA-H

It has been for me personally seeing as he brought me in and gave me the chance to come and play again, I was a bit upset but you have just got to get on with it with football really. He was a really nice guy and because you don’t really meet a lot of people like that in football I was a bit upset for him, but all the boys wanted to get the win for him today and we have done that.

PN

Must have been strange for you as well and maybe some of the other loan players who have only been at the club for a relatively short space of time, and all of a sudden the manager goes?

TA-H

Yeah, it is a bit crazy but things happen like that in football you know, it is up and down and things change so quickly, you have just got to get on with it, that is all you can do.

PN

Graham Kavanagh has obviously had a positive impact on the players judging by the way they were organised today, and you all looked really up for it?

TA-H

Yeah, we have been working hard throughout the week, obviously with what happened on Monday there has been motivation, and motivation from what the results have been this season. So, I think we have done well, I think hopefully we can kick on from here.

PN

Has there been much change this week in terms of your preparation for the game?

TA-H

I think yeah, it changed because obviously someone else has taken over and someone else is now in control, there are always going to be different methods and different approaches. I think you see it from little things, maybe like in the warm-up, little things like that, just little methods, little things in training, little set-pieces, there is always going to be different things with different people.

PN

Did you also feel as though you had a point to prove almost by winning the game for Greg Abbott?

TA-H

Yeah, like I said, the players wanted to do that, I think I when I came in I noticed how much everyone liked him and I think everyone was very motivated today to get the win for him.

PN

What was that dressing room like after the game?

TA-H

It was crazy seriously, you could see on the pitch the emotion and stuff, I was very happy to get the win, obviously that is what I said I came here to do to help get the results. So, personally for me I was very happy.

PN

For you personally as well, you have made a big impact with the Carlisle United supporters, already a favourite here in the three games you have played, how much have you enjoyed it so far?

TA-H

Yeah, I have really enjoyed it, I have really enjoyed being about the boys, the team, the club, I have been really impressed, I have really liked my time here.

PN

Clearly you want to make an impact at Swindon Town, but if it was decided it was right with all parties to stay a bit longer, would you look at possibly extending your stay here?

TA-H

I would think about it, obviously I came here to show what I am able to do with a view to getting in the team at Swindon, I haven’t played anywhere near as much as I would have liked to at Swindon and that is my ultimate goal really is to show that I can do that.

PN

And a nice short trip to Stevenage to look forward to next week?

TA-H

Yeah, it should be an interesting game.
