Town defender Rob Jones spoke exclusively to The Grimsby Telegraph after the big game on Saturday afternoon as he commented about the aims of the Mariners for the rest of the season :

"We were very good ourselves and at the end of the game we had the best chance with Marc Goodfellow. I think we deserved a draw at least.

"If we scored in the first-half the game would have opened up a bit more as the home side would have had to come at us. Maybe that was a little bit of a turning point in the game. But we lost to a single goal from a great finish.

"The aim at the start of the season was to get promotion. We will get that if we finish second and it is still in our own hands, although it would be nice to go up as champions."

Jones also bemoaned the state of the Brunton Park pitch, commenting :

"It was awful. When we walked on it before the game it was very squishy and the first foot I put on it, it gave way."
