Gary Peters, who was speaking exclusively to Shrewsbury Town's official club website www.shrewsburytown.co.uk, talked about who his team went about their defending tonight. He also mentioned the penalty decision and how his players performed under pressure :

" It was an exciting game and a great result for us with the situation we've had with injuries this week following the weekend's game. It was a game where we deserved to get something from the game but I have to say that Carlisle had more pressure than us.

" The defending was superb tonight even though we were pushed back into our box and Gavin Cowan was super today. With the conditions it's very hard to defend as the attackers can always turn you better and Ben Herd had problems tonight and got turned which is something you don't see.

" I would have been disappointed if I was Carlisle and didn't come out of that game without anything, both teams wanted to go home with something from the game after working so hard. When we went 2-1 up I would have taken the draw then, and I felt satisfied to get something after making five changes from Saturday.

" I don't think there are any teams better than Carlisle at home as the crowd get behind them and make it hard for the referee, and I think they gave him a hard time tonight. "

" If you get sent off for what Ben Herd did then it's a shame, Joe Hart made a save and pushed the ball onto the post, it came back off the post onto Ben's hand, leg and chest and he didn't try to stop the ball with his hand and there was no intent there.

" Neil Sorvel got the one goal and the shot for the second and it's got to get Sorvs forward and shooting, we've talked about him being more positive and getting forward and to get two goals in two games is a good return.

" Their left back is a very attacking player and was giving us a lot of problems and that's the reason we were playing down the opposite side to keep the ball away from him.

" When Chester played here they were 1-0 down minutes into the game and got battered, there was a little bit of the defender in me which was saying that if we didn't get a battering then I'd be happy, but we dug deep and deserved something from the game. "
