An exciting game for everyone concerned at Plainmoor as the Cumbrians edged out the Gulls in a seven-goal thriller which takes United up to fifth in the League Two table. Another hat-trick for Karl Hawley makes him the second top scorer in the division in a game from which they were many talking points and some of them are covered below.

Ex-Blues striker Paul D. Robinson, who was speaking exclusively to Torquay United's official website www.torquayunited.premiumtv.co.uk, had the following to say on the Gulls's 4-3 defeat at the hands of Carlisle United yesterday :

Interviewer :

"Paul, two goals for you on your debut but still on the losing side."

Robinson :

"Yes, I'm gutted about that. It was a good game and three times we pulled ourselves back in with the never say die spirit, only to lose out at the end. Don't really know what to say about it. Sure, I'm pleased with my performance and getting two goals, but it wasn't enough was it and we needed me to get at least another which I didn't, so I'm gutted for the lads over that."

Interviewer :

"Have to ask you about the penalty."

Robinson :

"Yes, I thought you would! Well, I was confident, don't think I've missed a penalty in about five years now so I was always going to take this one and the lads were quite happy with that. Anyway, when I ran up and just hesitated a bit I caught my foot on the turf and completely scuffed the shot! My heart stopped for a moment, but luck was with us and it went in. Not much more I want to say on that!"

Interviewer :

"And the decisions that went against us today?"

Robinson :

"Again, I can't say much about that because I don't want to get into any trouble over it. However, it's bad decisions that can make or break a team at the end of the season. In the premier league every decision gets looked at again and again and the referee can be proved right or wrong. With us that doesn't happen so we have to accept what happens at the time, however dire it may seem. I thought there were some very bad decisions but that's life now."

Interviewer :

"And how do you feel after a full 90 minutes?"

Robinson :

"Well, I know I'll suffer tomorrow as it was hard going out there, but as that was the first full game I've had for a good while now, I'll certainly know about it in the morning! I have proved to myself that I can last the 90 minutes, so I have something to build on now."
