MOTM Tom Taiwo
United midfielder Tom Taiwo (TT) spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips (JP) after Carlisle's 1-0 defeat at home to Norwich, the on-loan Chelsea midfielder suggesting that the Blues just aren't getting the rub of the green at the moment :

JP

Tom, man of the match, another outstanding display, you have really settled in here at Carlisle United haven't you.

TT

Yeah, I love playing here, I love playing in front of the fans. As you have seen today, even though we were losing they were getting behind us and really spurring us on.

JP

How do you think a result like this does come around when you are working that hard out there and you do have so many chances?

TT

In recent weeks I have done a few interviews and said it is all about luck, all about the rub of the green. In the last three or four games we should have had penalties, we have had decisions given against us which have led to goals and it is just about getting that luck.

JP

And talking about luck, you felt that you were tugged in the penalty area towards the end of the game as well.

TT

It wasn't me, I think it was Danny Livesey, he had his back to goal and he was getting held. It is those kinds of decisions against the big teams that you are going to struggle to get.

JP

Is there anyone you have ever met in your life who you have not tackled?

TT

My girlfriend.

JP

Because you are absolutely a tackling machine aren't you, you must really like that part of your game.

TT

I love it, I love getting down and getting the ball back. It is something that not a lot of people really enjoy but because I like it there is always a place in the team for someone like that.

JP

And you are clearly very popular, and it is very needed in the team, a lot of fans were debating whether you would maybe be played at right-back for Carlisle today because you played there for the Chelsea youth team, but I think you would have been missed too much out of the middle.

TT

I don't know about that, we have got great players that can come in. You have seen a good performance again from Graham Kavanagh, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson then came in and did a really good job. So if I think I had had to play there it wouldn't have been a problem, but again, Evan (Horwood) came in and did a brilliant job at left-back.

JP

The facts are, we have just spoken with Greg Abbott about this, the club are a point and a place above the relegation zone, but looking at the quality of the performances it doesn't look like you will stay there. But you have got to start finding those goals, is there a belief in the team that they are coming?

TT

Definitely, we play at times some really good football you know. We are always told to win the battle first and then go and out play our football and express ourselves. We are doing that and we are just not getting the rub of the green I think.

JP

And your reputation of course is growing at this level and the man of the match display today was thoroughly deserved, do you remember your promise to me last time we spoke that you were going to sign for Carlisle United longer term?

TT

I do and I will be totally honest, everyone has been brilliant to me and I find that I am learning loads here. Everybody at the club from kitmen right up to the gaffer, they are all helping me a lot so I don't see why I shouldn't.

JP

The kitman? So Andy Hall has actually helped you so far at Carlisle United?

TT

Loads, I mean for example today, I have been suffering with cramp for the last few weeks and I said that I had forgotten to buy my tonic water and he has run out and picked up some tonic water for me. Just things like that, they are only too happy to help.

JP

He is not a bad lad is he, well it would be great to have you here long term. A fantastic display, just a shame about the result but I am sure it will come.

TT

It will.
