Southend boss Steve Tilson spoke to BBC Radio Essex about his side's last-gasp 2-1 win at Brunton Park yesterday, Tilson suggesting he may now rest some of his players with the play-offs in mind :

" It was tough, I thought that we played ever so well in the first-half and then for 20 to 25 minutes in the second-half they put us under a lot of pressure. They got the ball forward a lot quicker and made it hard work for us, but it was a great ball from Mark Gower at the end that picked out Barney (Lee Barnard) at the far-stick.

" Our first goal was a good set-piece, a good delivery, no-one has touched it and it has gone straight in, which is what you are looking for. Barney was unlucky before he scored when he hit the inside of the post and it came back out, but it was obviously a good time to score for us, it's a really tough place to come and get three points.

" They changed their formation and made a couple of substitutions and went 4-4-2. They didn't play so much football and just got the ball forward earlier, with the wind as well it was tough for us to get it down. Yes they did make it tough for us but we weathered the storm and obviously with them going down to ten men it gave us the impetus to get it down and play. It gave us a bit more space and we capitalised on it.

" I don't know whether it was a sending-off or not, he (David Raven) has gone in studs showing. The trouble is that you can't seem to make a tackle now-a-days. The referee (Anthony Taylor) has given him a red card but I'd be disappointed probably if it was one of my players.

" Our place in the play-offs is confirmed now, in the end we didn't need the result because Walsall lost, but even so, it keeps our run going and it was a fantastic result for us today. We'll have to have a look at maybe resting a few players or not, I'm not so sure, we'll see.

" We're in there now though and we've got to keep working hard to get to the end of the season and then concentrate on the play-offs. It would be lovely to have one successful play-off campaign after another but there are going to be four, apart from ourselves, three big clubs in it. So it's going to be a tough ask but we'll give it our best shot. "
